Technical Delivery Managers (TDMs) are responsible for two of our most important company objectives: (1) ensure our customers achieve remarkable business results through technology engagements and (2) drive customer growth through technology expertise, trusted advice, relationships, and demonstrated results. TDMs manage and deliver innovative solutions built on the Appian platform, overseeing all aspects of agile delivery for Appian-led engagements, including risk management and impediment removal. They work closely with sales reps to drive growth in strategic accounts and integrated deals. Their activities include project management, account management, relationship building, financial management, opportunity qualification, problem identification, project/use case definition, demand management, services positioning, and account strategy. All activities are performed in partnership with Appian Sales, Partners, and the Customer Success team, including Customer Success Managers (CSMs).
This role is based at our HQ in McLean, VA. Appian values in-person collaboration as a key driver of our mission to be the best. To be successful in this role, you need:
Experience managing a book of business using financial tools and metrics
Experience leading agile delivery teams and managing enterprise-scale technology programs, collaborating with architects and designers to deliver solutions
Experience understanding customers' strategic goals, positioning technology to meet those goals, developing application roadmaps, and building business cases
Experience with value selling methods and creating compelling business benefits for proposals and delivery
Ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders, buyers, and influencers
Intellectual curiosity, bias for action, ability to thrive in ambiguity, and excellent communication skills
Industry experience in Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Insurance, Manufacturing
Experience with software consulting in ERP, CRM, BPM/Workflow, Data Integration, or EAI, and knowledge of enterprise architecture and data management
Basic qualifications:
Proven support background for Intel and/or 4th Estate, with an Active Government Top Secret Clearance
5+ years in an agile delivery environment, with at least 1 year leading a team
B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field
Willingness to travel up to 10% annually to support customer engagement
