We are seeking an experienced
Sr. ETL/SSIS Developer
for a
hybrid onsite contract role in Chicago, IL . This is a 6+ month engagement and is open to
local candidates only . The selected developer will play a key role in supporting a new core system implementation and will be responsible for the full data flow lifecycle into the enterprise data warehouse (EDW). This position involves development, testing, documentation, and support of robust ETL processes using
SQL Server ,
SSIS , and advanced SQL/Python programming. You’ll work closely with data architects and business analysts to ensure timely and accurate movement of data across systems, provide architectural input, and train junior developers on best practices and documentation standards. Serve as a senior ETL developer supporting the new core system implementation
Build and manage robust
SSIS packages
used in the
Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL)
processes
Develop complex queries and stored procedures in
SQL Server
to support data warehouse operations
Provide technical guidance on
data architecture and EDW design
aligned with the Kimball methodology
Maintain and enhance ETL pipelines and ensure end-to-end data integration workflows are reliable and efficient
Design and document
data mappings, transformations, and load processes
for enterprise-wide reporting needs
Oversee the documentation, security, testing, and deployment processes for all EDW procedures
Coordinate production, development, and sandbox environments and ensure smooth transitions across them
Collaborate with team members in an Agile/Scrum environment to meet sprint goals and resolve issues
Train and mentor junior developers and new team members on ETL standards, documentation, and design

7+ years
of hands-on experience with
SQL Server development
5+ years
of experience working with
SSIS and ETL development
Proven experience in building and maintaining
data warehouses , preferably using
Kimball methodology
Strong expertise in
SQL programming , including complex joins, indexes, CTEs, window functions, and optimization
Proficiency with
Python programming
for data manipulation and automation
Familiarity with
data modeling principles
and ETL testing procedures
Understanding of
data governance , version control, and data quality frameworks
Experience in
Agile development environments
with sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
Solid verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration

Cloud exposure, especially working with
Azure ,
AWS , or
GCP
in a data pipeline context
Experience integrating SSIS with
