We are seeking an experienced

Sr. ETL/SSIS Developer

for a

hybrid onsite contract role in Chicago, IL . This is a 6+ month engagement and is open to

local candidates only . The selected developer will play a key role in supporting a new core system implementation and will be responsible for the full data flow lifecycle into the enterprise data warehouse (EDW). This position involves development, testing, documentation, and support of robust ETL processes using

SQL Server ,

SSIS , and advanced SQL/Python programming. You’ll work closely with data architects and business analysts to ensure timely and accurate movement of data across systems, provide architectural input, and train junior developers on best practices and documentation standards. Sr. ETL/SSIS Developer – Key Responsibilities

Serve as a senior ETL developer supporting the new core system implementation

Build and manage robust

SSIS packages

used in the

Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL)

processes

Develop complex queries and stored procedures in

SQL Server

to support data warehouse operations

Provide technical guidance on

data architecture and EDW design

aligned with the Kimball methodology

Maintain and enhance ETL pipelines and ensure end-to-end data integration workflows are reliable and efficient

Design and document

data mappings, transformations, and load processes

for enterprise-wide reporting needs

Oversee the documentation, security, testing, and deployment processes for all EDW procedures

Coordinate production, development, and sandbox environments and ensure smooth transitions across them

Collaborate with team members in an Agile/Scrum environment to meet sprint goals and resolve issues

Train and mentor junior developers and new team members on ETL standards, documentation, and design

Sr. ETL/SSIS Developer – Required Skills and Experience

7+ years

of hands-on experience with

SQL Server development

5+ years

of experience working with

SSIS and ETL development

Proven experience in building and maintaining

data warehouses , preferably using

Kimball methodology

Strong expertise in

SQL programming , including complex joins, indexes, CTEs, window functions, and optimization

Proficiency with

Python programming

for data manipulation and automation

Familiarity with

data modeling principles

and ETL testing procedures

Understanding of

data governance , version control, and data quality frameworks

Experience in

Agile development environments

with sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives

Solid verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration

Sr. ETL/SSIS Developer – Preferred Qualifications

Cloud exposure, especially working with

Azure ,

AWS , or

GCP

in a data pipeline context

Experience integrating SSIS with

cloud-based storage , APIs, or third-party systems

Understanding of

DevOps for Data , including automated deployments and CI/CD pipelines

Familiarity with BI tools like

Power BI

or

Tableau

is a plus

Prior involvement in enterprise-scale data migration or modernization projects
