Payroll Specialist

The
Payroll Specialist
manages and administers payroll functions, maintains payroll records in accordance with all state, federal, and agency requirements, and ensures high-level payroll operations without the need for close supervision. This role requires expertise in garnishment processing and tax setup, and the ability to work independently
Key Responsibilities: Ensure pay practices are documented, pay rates and programs are monitored, and merit increases are timely while ensuring adherence to federal, state, community, and regional pay guidelines.
Coordinate with the HR Coordinator/Manager to ensure that HRIS contains correct care team member information, including but not limited to Job Title and pay information.
Collaborate with Majestic Care Home Office HR to manage Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals are accurate.
Collaborate with Majestic Care Home Office HR to manage union deductions and pay for bargaining unit employees.
Process weekly and biweekly payrolls and ensure that tax laws and employment regulations are compliant.
Review care team member time and attendance reports for accuracy and completeness to ensure PTO is captured per attendance policy.
Set up and maintain SIT/SUTA accounts for multi-state payroll for new acquisitions.
Respond to employment verifications as needed.
Collaborate with payroll provider/vendor to ensure all court-ordered garnishment orders are entered and processed accurately and maintain tracking logs.
Audit and validate employment statuses.
Manage daily hours, punches, special pays, etc., and submit payroll hours to the company payroll provider/vendor.
Review final payroll previews with the Executive Director and other department managers for final submission to payroll provider/vendor.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and HR on any pay discrepancies.
Audit payroll systems and send facility reports weekly.
Required/Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field or 4 years’ garnishment processing experience required.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
SHRM or PHR preferred.
4+ years in payroll and garnishment processing required.
Experience supporting multiple sites and states.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Garnishment processing
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, and email).
Knowledge of computerized payroll and bookkeeping systems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Knowledge of SIT and SUTA Tax application processes.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and manage high-level payroll operations.
