Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a
Software Engineer
to join the
Flight + Plan team
on a hybrid basis in
Arvada, CO . You will be focused on building and integrating scalable software frameworks for satellite mission planning and operations. This role involves designing and implementing high-performance backend systems in Python and Java, collaborating with aerospace and software engineers, and ensuring robust, cloud-native solutions for modern space operations.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and validate backend systems for satellite modeling, mission planning, and operational algorithms.
Develop APIs and integrate backend services with cloud infrastructure for scalability, resilience, and security.
Collaborate cross-functionally with aerospace engineers, frontend developers, and product managers to deliver mission-critical capabilities.
Optimize software performance and ensure maintainability, quality, and reliability in production environments.
Build and deploy containerized applications using Kubernetes or serverless architectures.
Contribute to an agile, iterative engineering environment, taking technical ownership of key features and improvements.
Qualifications
3+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent hands‑on expertise).
Proficiency in
Python
and experience with
Java
(C++ or Rust is a plus).
Strong background in developing software for complex mathematical or physics-based models.
Hands‑on experience with algorithms for optimization, mission planning, orbit determination, or sensor fusion.
Knowledge of distributed systems, API design, databases (NoSQL and relational), and event‑driven architectures.
Experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, S3, EC2, RDS) and CI/CD pipelines.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field;
Secret Level Security Clearance Mandatory
Compensation
Pay Range:
$120,000-$170,000 (depending on experience)
