Our law firm is growing, and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent clients in all areas of family law. You’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations, such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues, such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. Responsibilities What You’ll Do:
Represent clients in family law hearings, mediations, and trials
Draft motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, and final orders
Guide clients through complex legal and emotional situations
Collaborate with paralegals and senior attorneys on case strategy
Oversee case files, track progress, and manage deadlines
Communicate regularly with clients and opposing counsel
Occasional travel required across WV and OH
Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
Keep client files properly organized and up to date
Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process
Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
Qualifications What You Need:
Licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio
Prior experience with Family Law is preferred
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Excellent courtroom presence and legal writing skills
Strong communication and client relationship abilities
Confidence under pressure and compassion for people in crisis
Willingness to work independently and as part of a team
At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary
Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
Compensation $100,000 - $120,000 yearly + benefits
