Our client, a precision plastics manufacturer, has an immediate need for an experienced
Accounting Manager , to join their winning team in Cranston.
Our candidate of choice will be responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations of a multi-location manufacturing organization and ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, effective cost accounting, and strong internal controls across all facilities. You will lead and develop the accounting team which includes the Senior Staff Accountant and the Accountant/Payroll, to support month-end and year-end close, and partner with operations to drive financial accuracy and efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for multiple manufacturing locations
Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of financial results across all locations within 10 business days
Oversee cost accounting functions including variance analysis, and inventory valuation
Monitor inventory transactions, physical counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes
Partner with operations to analyze manufacturing variances, labor, overhead, and material costs
Establish and maintain strong internal controls across all locations
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements
Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff across multiple sites
Assign work, set priorities, and ensure workload is balanced and deadlines are met
Promote consistent accounting practices and procedures across all locations
Ensure effective use of ERP and accounting systems across facilities
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and data accuracy
Partner with plant managers, operations, supply chain, and leadership to support business decisions
Provide financial insights and analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and integrations
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (required)
CPA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility
Manufacturing accounting experience required; multi-location experience strongly preferred
Demonstrate proficiency by quickly adapting to new technology and readily acquiring new technical skills.
Proficient in all Microsoft suite applications including Outlook/Teams, Word, Excel, as well as OneDrive and network locations
Advanced Excel skills; ability to analyze large data sets
Use of ERP system. Prior experience with Global Shops is a plus.
Proficiency in Excel and scheduling tools.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing cost accounting
Experience with ERP systems
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
