The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records using
QuickBooks Online , supporting month‑end close, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This role requires strong proficiency in QBO, attention to detail, and the ability to manage daily accounting activities in a cloud‑based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the general ledger in
QuickBooks Online
Prepare and post journal entries in QBO
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations in QBO
Review, code, and reconcile transactions for accuracy and proper classification
Manage and reconcile
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
within QBO
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements from QBO
Ensure proper setup and maintenance of the
chart of accounts
in QBO
Track fixed assets and record depreciation entries
Assist with payroll journal entries and payroll reconciliations
Support month‑end and year‑end close processes
Prepare schedules and reports for internal review and external auditors
Identify and resolve discrepancies within QBO
Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails within QBO
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
1–3 years of accounting experience
Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online required
Strong understanding of GAAP
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reconciliations, basic formulas)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with third‑party QBO integrations (e.g., Bill.com, Gusto, Stripe, Shopify)
CPA or CPA‑eligible
Experience in a small or mid‑sized business environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong internal controls awareness
Office, hybrid, or fully remote
Periodic overtime during month‑end close
