Dewey Plant - Chemical Operator

Position Overview
Milliken & Company, a global manufacturing leader, seeks an experienced Chemical Operator to support chemical manufacturing processes at the Milliken Dewey Plant in Inman, SC. The role reports to a Production Manager and is open to entry‑level associates who will rotate on 12‑hour shifts with first‑third rotation to learn basic chemical and material handling skills.
Job Responsibilities
Operate forklift to move raw materials.
Operate process computer to manufacture batches.
Pour chemicals according to directions.
Fill/Bag product up to 50 lbs.
Prepare basic chemical blends.
Perform physical/chemical testing in local monitoring station.
Fill out batch sheets, computer records, logs, and charts.
Participate in plant safety program and process meetings.
Lift and manhandle raw materials and drums less than 50 lbs.
Contribute to process improvement and innovation.
Attend daily team maintenance meetings.
Shut down equipment according to established procedures.
Perform other assignments as required by the production manager.
Qualifications – Required
High School Diploma.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to climb multiple steps, lift 50 lbs regularly, pass medical clearance, and wear a full‑face respirator.
Computer experience with Windows‑based software.
Qualifications – Preferred
High level of computer skills.
Prior experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment.
Forklift experience.
SAP experience.
Additional Strengths

Teamwork and independent work capability.
Self‑direction and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements
Sit at least 50% of the day.
Stand while working at least 95% of the day.
Move throughout the plant at least 25% of the day.
Lift up to 35 lbs without assistance at least 10% of the day.
Walk upstairs or use ladders at some frequency (10% of the day).
Bend or stoop at least 10% of the day.
Maintain adequate visual acuity to read printed material and use computer screens.
Make decisions and reason with information as required.
