Shortage Control Associate

As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), your role directly impacts the store's security and the overall shopping experience. By exhibiting command presence, knowledge of theft trends, and a positive impression of control, you will help mitigate theft and create a safe, enjoyable shopping environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain a professional appearance and presence at the front of the store.
Greet every customer entering or exiting with a warm smile and friendly greeting.
Monitor store entrance throughout each shift, focusing on reducing opportunities for theft.
Build trust and respect among customers and associates through confidence and positive attitude.
Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious activity to the Manager on Duty.
Knowledge & Communication
Master top shortage areas and support programs that reduce theft.
Communicate theft‑prevention information during store rallies.
Conduct bag and package checks on associates to ensure safety and security compliance.
Understand your role in protecting store assets.
Support & Guidance
Provide training support on shortage‑reduction programs and processes.
Model safety practices and address unsafe behavior promptly.
Experience & Qualifications
1+ year experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Analytical skills to review and interpret business trends.
Strong communication and leadership skills that foster productive relationships.
High‑pressure, fast‑paced work tolerance with a disciplined decision‑making approach.
