We are seeking a skilled and reliable painter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and painting various surfaces in a commercial setting.
Union Painter – JLL This position operates under the International Union of Operating Engineers: IUOE399.
What your day-to-day will look like
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and applying primer as needed
Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
Tape off and protect surrounding areas while filling cracks, holes, and joints with appropriate materials
Set up scaffolding, ladders, and safety equipment to access work areas at various heights
Estimate project time and materials while tracking progress using electronic devices and project management tools
Maintain painting tools and equipment in proper working condition between projects
Follow all safety protocols while keeping work areas clean, organized, and compliant with regulations
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a painter (apprenticeship may be considered)
Strong technical foundation in painting techniques, materials, and color theory, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality excellence
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Vocational training or certification in painting
Experience with specialty finishes or decorative painting techniques
Knowledge of OSHA safety standard
Location Chicago, IL.
Work Shift
Sunday through Thursday 6 AM to 2 PM (8 hours shift)
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Compensation
Starting pay: $36.48 per hour.
Opportunity for overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week
Pay increases are structured according to the terms set forth in the Collective Bargaining
Work Environment
Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
May involve working at heights on ladders, scaffolding, or lifts
Exposure to paint fumes, dust, and other potential irritants (proper PPE will be provided)
Some travel may be required between job sites
Some vaccination is required
