What you'll do
Lead and supervise a team of power construction equipment operators and laborers to complete power line installation, repair, and maintenance projects
Coordinate daily tasks, assign responsibilities, and monitor team performance to meet deadlines and quality standards
Operate heavy machinery such as cranes, excavators, and bucket trucks, as needed for complex or priority tasks
Read and apply blueprints, specifications, and job plans for accurate power line installation
Conduct safety briefings and enforce compliance with all federal, state, and company safety regulations
Inspect job sites for hazards and implement corrective measures to ensure safety
Communicate project updates, challenges, and progress to supervisors and stakeholders
Restore worksites by managing backfill, leveling the ground, and replacing removed materials
Resolve issues related to power line installation or equipment operation in real‑time
Train and mentor team members to improve skills and job performance
Perform other duties as assigned
What you'll need
To be 18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
High school diploma, GED equivalent, and 5 years of experience operating and maintaining heavy construction equipment and supervising crews
Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience operating backhoes and other heavy equipment, including at least 1 to 3 years in a leadership or foreman role.
A valid Class A CDL
with no manual transmission restrictions. This demonstrates the ability to operate vehicles with both manual and automatic transmissions, as well as transport equipment as needed.
Technical knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude for performing minor equipment repairs and maintenance.
Safety certifications: OSHA 10‑hour or 30‑hour certification is preferred.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with crew members, supervisors, and others on the job site.
The ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, site plans, and work orders.
The ability to troubleshoot issues and adapt to changing project conditions.
Physical abilities & exposures
Routinely: operates vehicles and heavy machinery; occasional ladder use, squeezing and repetitive/fine hand motions; occasional keyboard and mouse usage, works with arms above shoulder level, repetitive bending/stooping, standing/walking, climbing stairs, and lifting greater than 55 pounds, works in confined spaces, alone in remote locations

The wage range for Backhoe Foreman Construction Equipment Operator is $25.00 - $36.00.
