JR100087**Job Title**Laundry Technician**Pay Rate**United States of America (Hourly)**Time Type**Full time**Summary**Under direct supervision, is responsible for laundry exchange and dispensing uniforms, bedding and other linen in a detention facility; assists in maintaining adequate supply of uniforms and
linen; supervises inmate workers; report writing of incidents, particularly destruction of County property, and performs related duties as required.**Duties and Responsibilities:*** Conducts daily clothing and bedding exchange for detainees in their living quarters* Receives soiled uniforms, bedding and other linen issued to detainees* Maintain laundry exchange record sheet* Monitor inmate work teams stocking the laundry carts* Monitor inmate work teams laundering soiled uniforms and linens* Maintains cleanliness of laundry area* Performs other duties as required**Minimum Qualifications**:* High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate* Knowledge of basic laundering techniques* Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to maintain records and documents; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and detainees* Must have a valid driver’s license* Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance* Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test* Required to work weekends, holidays and perform shift work* May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek**Working Environment and Physical Demands:*** Working conditions are inside an industrial laundry within a jail environment; exposure to damp/wet conditions with limited exposure to hazardous laundry chemicals, noxious odors and fumes* Frequently moves items weighing up to 15 pounds* Occasionally moves items weighing up to 60 pounds* Occasionally moves about the laundry room* Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information* Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery* Positions self to perform essential functions* Must be able to remain in a stationary position**Working With Bexar County**Bexar County offers employees a competitive salary, retirement, and benefits.
