Centrally located less than 25 miles Northwest of Maple Grove and 30 miles Southeast of Saint Cloud, Monticello is home to six brick-and-mortar schools and two nature-based facilities serving more than 4,000 students annually. Monticello consistently ranks in the top 50 school districts in the state as measured by a number of organizations and metrics, and performs above the state average in graduation rates, test scores, and early college opportunities.
Job Overview This position will interpret using American Sign Language and Voice for a student within the Sherburne Northern Wright Special Education Cooperative member districts of Becker, Big Lake, and Monticello. The Interpreter will collaborate with other service providers and teachers.
License & Experience
Certified ASL Interpreter or working toward certification in the State of Minnesota
Valid Minnesota Driver’s License
Knowledge and experience working with students who are deaf or have hearing impairments
Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Essential Skills
Knowledge and experience using American Sign Language
Must be able to assure and implement state and federal laws, statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to special education
Team-oriented approach when working with students, colleagues, families, and administrators
Effective communication and teaming skills, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community and staff
Establishes a culture for learning by supporting the mission, beliefs and the strategic plan of the district
Inspires and engages all students in relevant learning
Maintain confidentiality of information about students, staff and families
Experience working with diverse students and families – experience/training with CLR (Culturally Linguistically Responsive) methods preferred
Hourly Pay Range: $19.44 – $29.04
