Weare seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated, forward thinking Practice BusinessManager to lead our dedicated team here at Beechwood Medical Centre. Thesuccessful candidate will eventually ensure the efficient management of all ourresources, the delivery of top-tier healthcare services, and the ongoingdevelopment of our strategic, business goals. Although not initially, you will eventuallybe responsible for overseeing financial operations, managing staff and HR, anddriving change within the practice to maintain and enhance our high servicequality. The candidate will need to work closely with the HR and Finance Manager and also be a board member of the North Halifax PCN andwill need to contribute to the working of this key operation. We are lookingfor a leader and someone who can lead as well as manage.

Main duties of the job

Strategic Leadership:

Lead the practice in strategic and operational planning, ensuring alignment with our long-term goals

Drive change management initiatives to enhance practice performance and patient care

Prepare and present business development plans (where needed) to the Partnership

Act as a focal point for clinicians and administration and ensure we have a happy and focused team, working a sensible work/life balance

Champion the practice, its values, and its presence in the community

People Management:

Manage HR operations, ensuring staff are supported, motivated, and able to perform to their best abilities. Act as a HR lead and advisor for the North Halifax PCN (you will not be expected to do this until the HR and Finance Manager has fully retired)

Ensure smooth daily operations (through the Practice Operations Manager), enabling patients to access high-quality care

Resource Management:

Monitor and manage financial resources, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, bank accounts and maximizing income (you will not be expected to do this until the HR and Finance Manager has fully retired)

Optimise the use of physical resources, addressing any issues with premises or facilities promptly and keeping the premises to a good and clean standard

Quality Improvement:

Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission standards and other clinical governance requirements and aim to be the best

Regular clinical meetings, financial meetings, training, and practice meetings

About us Beechwood Medical Centre is a training practice of about10,500+ patients. We are very forward thinking and have spent the past fewyears developing the team, both clinical and non-clinical to deliver a greatservice. We are a single site practice. We are rated by theCQC as a GOOD practice, and we are committed to delivering the type of generalpractice expected by our patients

We have a great mix of clinical staff working at our surgeryincluding 2 partners, 4 salaried GPs an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and several PCN based clinicians as well as a team of Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistant. We also have an FY2 doctor and 2 x Registrar doctors. We have a greatadministration team led by the Practice Operations Management. We are veryproud of what we have achieved and what we currently deliver but we now want anew Manager to start and take the practice to the next level. Thecurrent Practice Business Manager has now semi retired and has taken up the roll of Practice HR and Finance Manager. Weanticipate the new Practice Business Manager will start with 3 days a week andgradually step up to full time as the current practice manager leaves thepractice. We anticipate this could take 2-3 years. Thisposition would therefore suit someone who is currently running a small practiceand wanting to step up to a bigger role or perhaps someone who is already working in a large practice but perhaps not as a Practice Manager. We do think NHS experience is critical to this role

Person Specification Qualifications

Educated to a degree level in healthcare or business (desirable)

Leadership and/or Management qualification (desirable) but not essential

Experience in NHS/Primary Care General Practice is essential.

Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.

Proven experience in financial management, including budgeting and forecasting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to get people onside.

Experience

We think it is essential to have experience in General Practice of some level, ideally in a management or operational role.

If you do not have any General Practice Experience, then it is unlikely that you will be successful in obtaining an interview.

£30,000 a yearThe salary will be £10K a day (per year) and for 3 days a week
