Main duties of the job
Carry out administrative duties associated with working in a busy General Practice.
Deal with all patients and visitors to the practice in a face‑to‑face environment.
Book, change, and cancel appointments for patients in line with current arrangements.
Handle tasks such as prescription requests, patient registrations, patient signposting and duties requested by the Practice Operations Manager, Business Manager or Partners.
Support the practice operationally with tasks like ordering, room allocations, photocopying, post management and general reception duties.
Hours (afternoon shift) – 30 hours per week:
Monday: 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm (15‑minute tea break)
Tuesday: 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm (15‑minute tea break)
Wednesday: 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm (15‑minute tea break)
Thursday: 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm (15‑minute tea break)
Friday: 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm (15‑minute tea break)
You MUST be able to work these hours, although a small degree of flexibility may be available.

Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
IT or admin qualification at NVQ level III or above.
RSA level II or equivalent.
Experience
Experience of working with the general public.
Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
Experience of working with vulnerable people.
Experience of working in general practice/primary care.
Skills
Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Clear, polite telephone manner.
Effective time management (planning and organising).
Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Ability to follow policy and procedure.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
