Accountant - Family Office at Oliver James
A leading investment management firm in Los Angeles seeks an Accountant to support its Family Office function. The role offers diverse exposure across accounting, finance, fund reporting, and estate planning, with strong opportunities for career progression.
Approximately 2 years of Big 4 (or equivalent) or family office experience is preferred, along with a background in funds or financial services.
This is a hybrid role
Responsibilities
Responsible for recording transactions, researching AP/AR discrepancies, reconciling general ledger and bank/investment accounts
Preparing cash flow projections & forecasts, financial analysis reports to measure financial performance of investment accounts using common financial metrics such as IRR, ROI, etc.
Analyze and value privately held real estate, private equity and venture capital investments
Assist with month-end closing processes for various general ledger accounts across multiple entities
Collaborate with the family office team to produce financial reports and investment performance packages for distribution to principals
Work with external tax accountants to review and file annual federal, state and other returns, provide information for taxable income estimates and review of profits interest calculations.
Oversee the tracking of investments, capital calls, distributions, and related financial activities to ensure accurate reporting.
Work cohesively with the family office team and assist on any ad hoc projects, as requested
Requirements/Skills
Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
Big 4 (or similar public accounting firm) with exposure to asset management, real estate or financial services clients OR a similar accounting role with a Family Office
Strong communication skills with a professional & driven approach
Willing to "roll up sleeves"
CPA qualified or eligible a plus
