Job Summary Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment in an automated warehouse environment. This role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, maintaining conveyor equipment, and ensuring safe operations while supporting continuous facility operations through flexible scheduling and comprehensive maintenance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation and record-keeping
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including belts, motors, photo‑eyes, and relays
Perform repairs and maintenance on automated conveyor systems and controls
Conduct predictive and preventive maintenance procedures to minimize equipment downtime
Promote a safe working environment by following all established safety procedures
Maintain MHE safety standards in accordance with OEM guidelines
Track and store department inventory for maintenance supplies and replacement parts
Maintain positive working relationships across all operations facility areas
Document all maintenance activities and equipment status accurately
Utilize CMMS for work order tracking
Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics for troubleshooting and repairs
Troubleshoot basic input and output functions on automated systems
Move up to 49 pounds and perform physical maintenance tasks as required
Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours with or without reasonable accommodation
Work in various positions including bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching for equipment access
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
1 year experience in PC competency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical principles
Ability to work flexible schedules, shifts, and areas including weekends, nights, and holidays
Willingness to adapt to changing operational needs and emergency maintenance requirements
Ability to lift parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds, occasionally up to 49 pounds
Capability for repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking
Manual dexterity for eye/hand coordination, foot pedal operation, and precise manual tasks
Ability to work in challenging conditions including small spaces, varying temperatures, noise, and vibration
Strong attention to detail for maintenance documentation
Problem‑solving skills for equipment troubleshooting
Communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration
Safety consciousness and adherence to protocols
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher from vocational school or college with focus in Mechanical or Electrical field
Technical certifications in electrical, mechanical, or automation systems
2+ years’ experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
2+ years’ experience in repair of material handling equipment
2+ years’ experience conducting predictive and preventive maintenance procedures
1+ year experience in metal and wood fabrication
1+ year experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics
1+ year knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
Experience with CMMS
Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenance
Knowledge of AutoStore ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems)
Project management experience for maintenance initiatives
Experience with PLC systems and industrial automation
Knowledge of lean maintenance practices and reliability‑centered maintenance
Working Conditions This position operates in an automated warehouse environment with exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, and varying environmental conditions. Work includes dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, and standing on concrete for extended periods. May encounter wet or uneven surfaces and require work in confined spaces for equipment maintenance and repair.
