Position Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising labor management and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily. Duties include labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower management, hiring and training, performance appraisals, and problem resolution under the direction of the Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities and continuous improvement.
Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues.
Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably.
Implement cost‑saving measures and suggest operational efficiencies.
Meet client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
Apply sound communication and motivational techniques to supervise, counsel and discipline team members.
Assist in hiring, training and professional development programs.
Plan daily work schedule by reviewing work orders and customer instructions.
Review pending jobs, reorganize warehouse space, and adjust staffing and equipment levels.
Train new staff or delegate training responsibility to experienced team members.
Provide guidance and advice as necessary on job performance.
Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED.
3 years' experience in a logistics/distribution environment.
1 year experience in a supervisory role.
Preferred: Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
Experience with RF scanners and WMS functions.
Language Skills
English – reading, writing, verbal.
Business communication.
Other Skills and Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in job tasks.
Good organizational and personnel skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Leadership, supervision and planning skills.
Flexible to work nights and weekends as required.
Ability to adapt to change in a fast‑paced environment.
Willingness to work overtime as dictated by business.
Physical Demands
Occasional bending.
Frequent walking, standing and constantly sitting.
Ability to lift/carry 11‑20 pounds; reach above shoulder, squat or kneel.
Work Environment Noise level is usually low to moderate. Rare exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
