POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervision of warehousing, receiving, and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Responsibilities include planning inbound and outbound volume, customer communication, space utilization and management, equipment management, hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisals, and problem resolution. Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality and comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies.
Manage operations to meet productivity and service goals, complying with client SLAs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and propose cost‑saving measures.
Meet all client‑specified KPIs and quality system requirements.
Apply sound communication and motivational techniques; supervise fairly and equitably, counsel, and discipline team members as needed.
Collaborate with Human Resources to create hiring, training, and professional development programs; participate in performance evaluation.
Leverage the right people at the right time to deliver results.
Inform senior management and client representatives of critical operational issues.
Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assign duties to warehouse staff.
Assess volume demands to plan warehouse space reorganization and staffing or equipment changes.
Ensure effective training delivery and adherence to SOPs.
Maintain high team motivation and focus on customer satisfaction.
Provide growth and development opportunities for staff.
Support adherence to SOPs and conduct routine staff meetings.
Ensure team proficiency in required information systems, including WMS; purchase necessary software and hardware per IT policies.
Maintain communication with clients, attend meetings, and manage supplier/customer site visits.
Support budgeting and pricing activities to meet cost, revenue, and profit targets.
Maintain sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment standards; train staff on MHE.
Promote a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance.
Work overtime as needed; perform other assigned duties.
Manage supervisors and support staff.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent leadership, supervision, and planning abilities.
Strong organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
Attention to detail and timely task completion.
Adaptability to change in a fast‑paced environment.
Flexible to night and weekend shifts.
Participate in cross‑training activities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
7 years of logistics/distribution experience.
5 years supervising.
Ability to work in unregulated temperatures; warmer and colder months can range from mild to moderate.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Knowledgeable with applicable WMS systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
English (reading, writing, verbal).
