Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join our growing Service and Aftersales team in Avilla, Indiana. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical professional who enjoys working with advanced manufacturing equipment and providing exceptional customer support in the field.

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex automated manufacturing systems. You will work directly with customers across multiple industries, including automotive, aerospace, HVAC, construction equipment, lawn & garden, and recreational manufacturing, ensuring equipment performance, uptime, and customer satisfaction.

This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting‑edge technologies such as robotic welding systems, laser cutting and welding equipment, tube bending systems, and advanced metal fabrication machinery, while collaborating with a global team of service engineers across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Key Responsibilities Equipment Installation & Commissioning

Oversee the installation, calibration, alignment, and startup of new and used manufacturing systems at customer facilities and in‑house locations.

Ensure equipment meets operational, safety, and performance standards before customer handoff.

Troubleshooting, Repair & Preventive Maintenance

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in industrial automation equipment.

Perform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability, uptime, and service life.

Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.

Automation, Controls & Robotics Support

Install, troubleshoot, and replace PLC components, robotic controllers, sensors, electrical wiring, and I/O modules.

Support robotic welding programming, laser alignment, system tuning, and automation upgrades.

Assist with hardware and software modifications to improve system performance.

Customer Training & Technical Support

Provide hands‑on operational and maintenance training to customers to ensure safe and efficient equipment use.

Conduct in‑house equipment demonstrations and evaluate customer application requirements.

Serve as a trusted technical resource to customers, offering process improvement recommendations.

Collaboration & Global Support

Work closely with Lead Service Engineers and technical teams in the U.S., Europe, and Asia to resolve complex service challenges.

Participate in factory and supplier training domestically and internationally.

Documentation & Reporting

Complete detailed service reports for each service call, including work performed, findings, recommended follow‑ups, and parts requirements.

Maintain accurate records to support continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Requirements Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience servicing industrial equipment or a related technical field.

High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational degree preferred.

Strong hands‑on experience with automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics and laser systems.

Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting.

Ability to work independently in the field while receiving remote technical support.

Excellent problem‑solving skills, work ethic, and attendance record.

Preferred / Plus Skills

Experience with robotic welding systems, laser cutting or welding equipment.

Knowledge of CNC systems, PLC programming, and robotic control systems.

Prior field service or customer‑facing technical support experience.

Travel & Physical Requirements

Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Passport required within 2‑3 months of hire (company reimbursed).

Ability to travel extensively throughout the Midwest region, with additional training travel to North America, Europe, Asia, Canada, and Mexico.

Ability to drive up to 10 hours per day and work up to 12‑hour shifts as required.

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in industrial environments.

Starting salary: $60,000 annually (with growth based on experience and performance)
