Overview The position of Production Supervisor directs and coordinates the overall assigned production area and manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance with cleanliness, quality, and safety standards. The quality of work is measured by production goals and safety outcomes. The shift days are Monday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.

Responsibilities Engagement & Communication

Works respectfully with all team members to ensure the safety, quality, production, and support of our products and goals on a daily basis.

Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all team members and visitors.

Actively participates in Marzetti operational excellence, special projects or tasks, and modification programs as needed with prior approval.

Participates in department/shift/team meetings and follows up on improvements and resolutions.

Safety

Maintains the highest standard of safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance with OSHA standards.

Performs daily inspection of all required PPE and ensures items are in good condition.

Acquires and maintains Lock‑out tag‑out certification for machine and performs all functions in accordance with OHSA and company requirements.

Performs daily inspection of applicable power equipment and documents it.

Completes Behavioral Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues, and participates in problem solving.

Quality

Leads and promotes a strong food safety culture within the facility.

Completes Behavioral Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues, and participates in problem solving.

Ensures compliance with quality, Food Safety Preventive Control (FSPC), FSMA, Food Defense, OSHA, and other support programs.

Reviews and complies with all applicable SOPs related to process or preventive control monitoring.

Communicates concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality, and legality to management or the confidential hotline.

Functional Capability

Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all team members, customers and vendors.

Directs and supervises production employees.

Works with HR for hiring, training and scheduling of production workforce.

Ensures shift activities are planned and communicated to achieve objectives safely and cost‑effectively.

Schedules the assigned production area and compiles reporting accurately and timely.

Maintains close working relationships with all departments and responds to deviations from standards immediately.

Coordinates with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure a trouble‑free shift start‑up.

Maintains positive employee, corporate and community relations with appropriate interface with customer service, vendors and contractors.

Maintains regular attendance in accordance with the company attendance policy and procedures.

Performs tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management.

Completes initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) for all required job tasks.

Working Conditions

Manages a manufacturing environment requiring standing, walking, reaching, lifting (up to 75 lbs short distance, up to 50 lbs repetitively) and continuous standing up to 12 hours with breaks.

May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.

Exposure to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non‑toxic industrial waste and scrap.

Enforces proper PPE: slip‑resistant, steel‑toed shoes, earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if applicable). Daily inspection of gear and replacement when needed.

Qualifications

2‑3 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food‑related industry.

Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations and manage correspondence.

Positive leadership and self‑motivation skills.

Strong organizational abilities, capable of multi‑tasking, troubleshooting and resolution aptitude.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervises 1‑100 department employees.

Responsible for overall direction, coordination and results of the production area.

Includes interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, appraising, terminating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.
