At approximately 120,042 acres of parkland and 872 miles of trails, Maricopa County is home to one of the largest regional park systems in the nation. Currently, there are twelve parks in Maricopa County's regional park system. Each is unique and offers its visitors a wide variety of recreational opportunities.
The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department oversees the Maricopa Trail, a 315‑mile trail system that encircles the valley and links all regional parks together. We Require
Two years of experience in semi‑skilled repair and maintenance tasks, including but not limited to construction, landscaping, or forestry
CPR/First Aid certification
High school diploma or GED
Other Requirements
Must obtain boat operation certification(s) within three months of hire
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Driver's license by the time of hire

Three years of semi‑skilled repair and maintenance experience
One year of experience in a natural desert park and recreation setting
Experience in motorboat operation
Current motorboat operation certifications
Working knowledge of uniform state watermarking system
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., Excel, Word, and Outlook) and internet use
Job Contributions
Installs, inspects, and maintains navigational equipment in conformance with Uniform State Waterways Marking Systems, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and Arizona Game and Fish Regulations
Adjusts buoys and markers throughout Lake Pleasant based on water levels and current conditions, including pouring cement, placing anchors, and completing basic repair of steel and aluminum items
Launches, loads/unloads, and operates motorboats up to forty feet in length
Provides technical advice and assistance with developing floating structures and waterway marking processes
Greets customers, provides information, and answers questions
Performs land‑based maintenance activities including cleaning and maintaining restrooms and other park locations, painting, removing graffiti, installing road and trail signage, plumbing, repairing and installing fences, and completing minor electrical repairs
Completes repair, maintenance, and custodial duties on floating restroom facilities
Assists with emergencies in the park, rescues, or basic first aid
Working Conditions
Ability to swim, lift, carry, push, and pull 100 lbs. for a distance of up to 300 feet.
Exerting 50‑100 lbs. occasionally, 10‑25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10‑20 lbs. constantly.
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards and noise and vibration.
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware Winches, Davit’s, Trailers, Tractors/Loaders, Spill Booms, Saws, Drills, Grinders, Hand Tools, etc.
