Department Information The Department of Economics and Finance offers a major in finance and a minor in economics and FinTech. The Department resides in the Mike Cottrell College of Business (MCCB), an AACSB‑accredited college of business that offers programs on five campuses in the North Georgia region. The college is located in close proximity to Atlanta and its thriving commercial real‑estate market. The department has a growing enrollment and a collaborative, energetic faculty engaged in quality research and with a strong focus on high‑quality teaching and student engagement.

Job Summary The Department of Economics and Finance at the University of North Georgia invites applications for an assistant/associate professor of finance position beginning August 1, 2026. This is a ten‑month, tenure‑track position. The position will be located at the Gainesville campus with the possibility of teaching on other campuses. Teaching assignments will likely include principles of finance, investment management, and financial institutions courses and the potential to teach graduate courses in finance.

Responsibilities

Teaching three classes each fall semester and three classes each spring semester

Using innovative teaching and learning techniques to provide high quality instruction in finance courses.

Providing a student‑centered, experiential learning approach both within the classroom and outside of the classroom.

Publishing research related to finance in peer‑reviewed theoretical, applied, or pedagogical journals.

Participating in active service for the Department of Economics & Finance, the MCCB, and UNG.

Providing academic advising and other activities that support student success.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or DBA in finance or a closely related field from an AACSB‑accredited institution is required at time of hire.

Candidates who are ABD will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with student‑managed investment activities and Bloomberg activities/certifications.

Online teaching experience.
