Support Specialist for Retail Food Safety

Job Responsibilities
Serve as the first line of contact for the public, consultants, and outside agencies regarding the Retail Food Safety program for telephone callers.
Assist food establishments (restaurants, hospitals, etc.) with registering their usernames and business through the online portal, including making payments and other site management duties.
Research and provide information concerning food safety questions and issues.
Perform receptionist duties by answering the telephone and greeting visitors with an amicable and helpful attitude; forward calls/concerns to the appropriate staff, agency, or industry partner.
Perform office/administrative duties; organize, develop, and implement procedures for recording, routing, and filing documentation.
Assist with ordering supplies, collecting information from inspectors, and providing follow-up to customers.
Assist with the collection and creation of receipts for funds/fees collected.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma with four years of administrative experience in an office setting OR an associate degree with two years of administrative experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
Food safety/restaurant experience.
Ability to operate independently.
Knowledge of food safety, data collection, tracking, recordkeeping, and analysis.
Ability to navigate and toggle between multiple, interfacing computing platforms.
Additional Comments
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Must be able to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive oral and written reports.
Strong organizational skills are required.
Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Must be able to input and maintain large quantities of data.
Position is based at the campus of the Columbia State Farmers Market in West Columbia (off Hwy 321). This is not a remote position.
