Job Summary

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.

Detailed Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, modify and repair electrical and pneumatic systems and related presses, press controls, electronic servo feeds, automatic and secondary presses

Replace/repair motors, perform mechanical adjustments and make mechanical repairs

Knowledge of tool room equipment maintenance and repair

Report on extensive/excessive repair costs and submit for evaluation and approval

Perform minor fabrications as needed

Perform pneumatic repairs; replace valves, replace cylinders, repair/replace lines and fittings

Interpret blueprints, manufacturers’ specifications, written and verbal instructions

Control downtime by informing die setters of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitor compliance

Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing personal networks

Observe machine operation to detect machine malfunctions and repair assessment

Maintain records in compliance with OSHA, ANSI and EPA requirements

Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards of machinery, tools and equipment

Other duties as required by supervisor

Essential Skills and Experience Required: High school diploma and five years of experience in hydraulic and/or stamping press equipment repair and maintenance.

Preferred: two-year electrical engineering, technology certification or equivalent experience; knowledge of PLC's and the ability to read ladder logic; maintenance experience on spot-welding machines.

Physical Demands

Occasionally required to stand, sit, walk, crouch, kneel, balance, climb stairs; uses hands and arms to reach; occasionally lifts up to 80 pounds; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust and focus. Works indoors but is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Noise level is moderate to high.
