POSITION PURPOSE Coordinates and administers nursing care to patients in the Occupational Medicine department utilizing the nursing process which involves: job-related injuries and illnesses and to promote workers’ health.
SITE(S) Occupational Medicine
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED Associate Degree in Nursing
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Experience in occupational health and safety
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
Licensure to be eligible to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin and/or Illinois based on job location assignment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
The ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.
Clinical skills to provide proper healthcare services, such as first aid, health screening, immunizations, and health coaching to employees.
Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and the ability to implement and monitor health and safety programs.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with employees, management, and other healthcare professionals. They should be able to educate employees about health and safety regulations, as well as the prevention of workplace hazards.
Observational skills to recognize potential health and safety risks in the workplace environment and take appropriate actions.
Problem-solving skills to address and manage health-related issues in the workplace.
Administrative skills to maintain employee health records, prepare reports, and manage occupational health services.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Capacity to stay updated with the latest developments in occupational health and safety regulations and medical treatments.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assess the health status of employees by conducting routine health screenings and examinations.
Develop and implement workplace health and safety programs.
Provide emergency medical care and first aid to employees who become ill or injured at work.
Advise management on health and safety policies and standards.
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of health and safety programs and initiatives.
Assist in the management of worker’s compensation claims.
Assist to rehabilitate workers who have been injured on the job.
Provide education and counselling to employees about health and wellness and disease prevention, including providing vaccinations or advising on proper nutrition and exercise.
Respond to critical incidents at the workplace.
Work collaboratively with other health professionals to address health issues and promote wellness in the workplace.
Serve as a liaison between the employer and employees, managing any health-related issues or concerns that arise in the workplace.
Maintain a productive and safe work environment.
