Full‑time position at Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner with a $20,000 sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance available.
Current shift: Three 12‑hour shifts, rotating weekends. Days or nights are available.
Overview We are committed to serving, healing, and innovating in healthcare. This role involves assessing patients and safely performing routine radiographic procedures in accordance with safety protocols. You will serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
Responsibilities
Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
Operates equipment independently to complete imaging per protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards, performing notification/remediation as warranted.
Assists in departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance).
Adapts behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and tailoring communication appropriately.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
Preferred: Prior radiologic technology experience.
Certifications and Licensing
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 90 days of employment or registry eligible.
Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including clear professional presentation.
Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and various software packages specific to the role.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands
Must be able to lift 25–50 pounds frequently and 10–20 pounds constantly.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call). Travel between facilities may be required.
Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands; manual dexterity required.
Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
Exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue; potential occupational risk for communicable diseases and hazardous medications.
