Maintenance Technician 2 - North Carolina Area Racks
Nordstrom seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician II to lead a team in delivering a safe, well‑maintained store environment for customers and employees. The role supports the Facility Manager (FM) to keep stores ready for daily business and executes on key themes of readiness, break‑fix, and leadership communication.
Responsibilities
Ensure HVAC, Vertical Transportation, Restaurants, Entries and Signs, and Building Systems are ready for business each day.
Respond to daily break‑fix and on‑demand requests, advanced troubleshooting, and delegate generated workorders to the team.
Communicate with Store Leadership, participate in store meetings, support vendor relations, and assist with administrative items such as parts ordering and meeting setup.
A Day in the Life
Lead and perform both on‑demand and planned preventive maintenance on all critical and non‑critical equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all Store Operations.
Operate and monitor building controls, critical and non‑critical building systems, and associated equipment.
Lead equipment and building rounds & readings, identifying, mitigating, and reporting malfunctions.
Assist with administrative tasks such as parts ordering, PO creation, vendor management, and relevant project meetings.
Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures, LOTO, PPE, ergonomics, working at heights, and machine guarding.
Act as the face of the facilities business in place of the FM by attending store meetings and vendor/project meetings, documenting and sharing notes.
Complete preventive maintenance routines with proper documentation and mentor other technicians on system accuracy.
Update the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and maintain adequate parts inventory.
Coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and Property Managers/Landlords.
Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
5–7 years of hands‑on mechanical maintenance experience with emphasis on mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills.
5+ years of predictive and preventive maintenance procedures experience.
Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions and low‑voltage signal tracing.
Work well without supervision and meet multiple deadlines.
Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
Self‑motivated and customer‑focused with strong dedication to facility support.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Previous experience with a CMMS and ordering system such as Coupa.
Knowledge of computer networking systems and infrastructure.
Experience with electromechanical operation and maintenance.
Project Management experience preferred.
Flexible schedule: days, evenings, weekends, and off‑hours may be required.
Physical Requirements Stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs or more, with or without reasonable accommodation.
