Job Overview Under the supervision of the Tuberculosis (TB) Team Leader and the TB Unit Manager, the Nurtur will provide TB services for clients within an assigned area. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating direct nursing care and coordinating services to individuals and families receiving TB services. The position is a member of an interdisciplinary team, participates in team case conferences, provides cross coverage during staffing absences and increased case load, and offers ongoing training and orientation for new TB staff as directed.
Key responsibilities include assessing patient/family resources, community resources, barriers to care, and utilization of services to determine an appropriate plan of care for patients with Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) or TB disease. Ongoing evaluation of care during treatment is conducted with the patient, TB team, and the patient's primary care provider. Duties also encompass conducting contact investigations, completing physical assessments and health histories of patients according to TB program guidelines, obtaining necessary lab work such as CBC, liver function tests, IGRA, HIV tests, and sputum specimens, providing treatment and/or administering medication under a physician’s or standing order, and delivering counseling and education regarding TB testing, evaluation, and treatment to patients and external partners.
The role participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, maintains records and reports in accordance with agency standards—including documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Personnel Cost Accounting System (PCAS)—and assists with agency shelter operations and supportive nursing practice competencies (e.g., intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injection administration, oral medication administration, client emergency response including First Aid, CPR, AED). The employee must be willing to assist during public health emergencies, outbreak response efforts, and may be required to serve other duties as assigned.
Qualifications • Licensure as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina or a compact state, with SCBON endorsement upon hire if a compact license is held.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• BLS/CPR/First Aid certification within thirty (30) days of hire (or documentation of prior completion).

• Physical requirements: bend, stoop, and lift up to thirty (30) pounds; pass a fit-test and use appropriate respiratory protective equipment; handle contact with infectious or potentially infectious TB cases; participate in disaster preparedness and flexible work hours may be required.
• One (1) year of nursing experience, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are helpful.
• Tuberculosis case management experience and proficiency with EHR technology and record-keeping.
