Direct Support Professional
Work Hours : Monday – Friday, 2 pm – 6 pm.
ADLs and Lifting : Assistance with activities of daily living is required; lifting up to 25 pounds may be necessary.
Medication Administration : Experience is helpful.
Position Overview : Working in the home and/or community environment, the Direct Support Professional is responsible for delivering quality one‑on‑one services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and working toward their outcome statements as outlined in each Individual Support Plan. Care may include activities of daily living and communication with other members of the individual's multidisciplinary team.
Essential Job Functions
Provide professional support to adult or pediatric individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to promote emotional, physical, and personal well‑being.
Implement strategies to assist the individual in achieving outcomes stated in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
Complete documentation substantiating services delivered (EVV, daily service notes).
Assist the individual and the interdisciplinary team in developing and maintaining the ISP.
Immediately report changes or problems in the individual's condition to the manager.
Complete all documentation in accordance with state and program regulations, organizational policies, and accreditation standards.
Adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.
Offer guidance, instruction, and role‑modeling to help individuals become more independent.
Seek opportunities for individuals to experience life in their homes and communities based on interests and hobbies.
Support the individual's preferences and ensure their interests are honored.
Assist individuals in developing life skills necessary to reach their highest potential (e.g., interaction with others, cooking, housekeeping, budgeting, personal hygiene).
Help individuals live an everyday life and ensure their health and safety.
Requirements
Desire to assist individuals to live life to its fullest.
High school diploma or equivalency.
Active driver's license, current automobile insurance, car registration, and car inspection if transporting clients.
Willingness to accompany clients into the community and provide support while respecting their civil and human rights and dignity.
Must be 18 or older.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance.
FBI clearance required for individuals who do not meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
