The Shipping and Receiving Clerk prepares items for shipment, verifies order processes, and maintains shipment records.
Responsibilities
Accurately pick and process all parts orders separated by sales order using the MRP system; verify quantity picked against the quantity ordered; check for completeness of each order; and follow through with each order to completion.
Communicate with the Supervisor regarding any questions or discrepancies with shipments. Work with the logistics personnel to resolve all issues.
Assist the Supervisor in maintaining the physical inventory, including cycle counting, proper storage, and identifying material in the inventory area.
Unpack and examine incoming shipments; reject damaged items; record shortages and communicate any inconsistencies to the Supervisor.
Maintain the warehouse and shipping area neat and organized, keeping the aisles clean and debris-free.
Operate the forklift truck/picker or use the pallet jack to pick and transport parts and shipments.
Coordinate with the warehouse supervisor to order warehouse and ship materials to maintain adequate stock.
Maintain all warehouse equipment and shipping systems (FedEx, UPS, GP, WMS) in proper working order and perform routine maintenance as required.
Assist the Supervisor in locating, staging, and loading outgoing orders.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
Ability to apply fractions, addition, subtraction, division and decimals, and common fractions in all units of measure.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety procedures and shipping/receiving processes and procedures.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
Define problems and troubleshoot situations using strong conceptual thinking abilities.
Ability to use precision measuring equipment and mechanical equipment and tools.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Efficient time management skills.
Education and Experience
High school diploma and two to three years previous warehouse and/or shipping experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office Systems.
Working knowledge of MRP or similar software programs.
Ability to operate FedEx, UPS, and LTL online portals.
Experience with the use of forklift trucks and pallet jacks is required. Forklift certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up 35-50 pounds. Charles Industries weight rule: 35 lbs and under can be lifted alone; 35-50 lbs can be lifted by one person if comfortable; 50 lbs or more requires assistance or lifting device.
Work Environment
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Noise level usually moderate to loud.
Safety shoes/boots required.
