Job Title and Location
Utility Processing L5 – C Shift
Location: Hermiston, OR
Summary The processing utility operator will safely and efficiently operate and adjust multiple pieces of equipment, monitor line flow and waste, correct quality and cost issues, and make line changes as directed by the Production/Package Lead or Team Leader. The role requires seamless shifting between qualified jobs to meet plant needs and may involve bidding into positions based on plant demand.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate and adjust equipment for multiple processes.
Monitor line flow, waste, and quality parameters.
Correct problems impacting quality and production costs.
Implement line changes as directed by leadership.
Shift between qualified positions as plant needs dictate.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain safe work practices and safety programs.
Communicate effectively with hourly and salaried personnel.
Perform routine checks such as CILs and FSILs.
Support 5S and other CPS programs.
Work any shift, overtime, and days of the week as required.
Qualifications Basic & Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Knowledge of equipment limits and troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Strong mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, and percentages).
Common sense reasoning and problem‑solving in standardized situations.
Physical ability to use hands, lift and carry up to 100 pounds, stand, climb, walk, kneel, and perform other manual tasks.
Physical Demands The employee regularly uses hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, reaches with hands and arms, stands, climbs or balances, walks, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, and talks, writes, or hears. The position requires lifting up to 100 pounds unassisted and repeated 50‑pound ladder lifts.
Work Environment The work environment is usually above 85 dB and requires hearing protection.
Qualification Period Training must be completed within the allotted period; failure to meet standards results in discontinuation of training.
