Overview Co‑lead with Houston Methodist as a Nurse Practitioner PRN Non‑Acute Care Virtual Ambulatory. This role provides full scope patient care, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and education in both inpatient and outpatient settings per Texas nursing practice requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care, including history, physical examination, assessment, and plan of care.

Order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications and non‑invasive procedures per Texas Board of Nursing prescribing authority.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team for coordinated care and participate in interprofessional rounds.

Serve as preceptor for students and residents, and mentor clinical staff.

Lead quality improvement activities, including monitoring patient safety and outcomes.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nursing and graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

Two years of RN, APN, or advanced practice clinical experience.

RN licensure, Texas APRN state license, Texas ANCC non‑acute care certification, BLS, and prescriptive authority with DEA registration.

Skills & Abilities

Effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and team.

Clinical assessment, documentation, leadership, and analytical judgment.

Time management, critical thinking, and autonomous practice per Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Functions

Leadership as clinical resource and patient advocate.

Coordination of patient care, interprofessional collaboration, and advocacy for ethical concerns.

Quality and safety improvement activities aligned with organizational goals.

Financial stewardship by optimizing documentation and length of stay.

Supplemental Requirements

On‑call availability during emergencies.

Travel within the Houston Metropolitan area.
