Position Overview
A growing, multi‑unit operating company is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support day‑to‑day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically strong, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment with multiple entities, locations, and systems. This role is well‑suited for someone who enjoys being in the numbers, improving processes, and building scalable accounting infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Close
Support monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes across multiple entities Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Assist in ensuring timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP Identify and resolve variances, discrepancies, and data integrity issues Operational & Multi‑Entity Accounting
Support accounting for multiple locations, cost centers, and legal entities Assist with inventory, fixed assets, and capitalization accounting Coordinate with operations and payroll to ensure accurate financial data flow Help maintain consistency across accounting processes and systems Controls, Compliance & Audit Support
Assist in maintaining internal controls, policies, and procedures Support audit readiness and coordination with external auditors and tax partners Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements Process Improvement & Systems
Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency, documentation, and workflows Support system integrations and accounting technology improvements Assist with clean‑up, standardization, and scalability initiatives as the company grows Leadership Support
Partner with senior accounting leadership on special projects and analysis Provide guidance and review support to junior accounting staff as needed Serve as a reliable escalation point for complex accounting questions Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Experience supporting month‑end close in a multi‑entity environment High attention to detail with strong reconciliation and analytical skills Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel Preferred
Experience in multi‑unit, retail, restaurant, hospitality, or operationally complex environments Prior experience in an Assistant Controller or Senior Accountant role Exposure to inventory, fixed assets, or cost accounting Experience working in an owner‑led or entrepreneurial organization CPA or CPA‑track a plus (not required) What This Role Offers
