MUSCP - Advanced Practice Provider (APP - NP/PA) - Department of Radiology
Serve as a dedicated health care professional for the Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Neuroradiology Divisions. Under the direction of the Supervising Physicians and designated Radiology Directors, this Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will split their efforts between the supervision of cardiac stress patients/studies in the outreach locations and provide support to the Neuroradiology Spine service by performing inpatient and outpatient spine procedures, consultations, and coordination of patient care. The APP will participate in all patient care activities including patient education, assist/coordinate admission and discharge planning, post procedural follow-up, perform consultations, medical record documentation, and initiatives to enhance patient flow and revenue streams for the division and health system.
Responsibilities
Supervise cardiac stress studies and patients at outreach locations
Perform inpatient and outpatient spine procedures in the Neuroradiology Spine service
Provide patient education and coordinate admission and discharge planning
Conduct post-procedural follow-up and perform consultations
Document medical records and bill for direct care provided
Engage in quality improvement, clinical research and accreditation activities
Job Duties
Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
Evaluates and treats patients using history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results per practice agreement or scope of practice
Performs therapeutic procedures approved by the supervising/collaborating physician, including:
Nuclear Medicine Stress Tests
Monitor and interpret EKG
Initiate IV access
Apply EKG leads
Lumbar puncture
Myelogram
Epidural blood patch
Obtain intrathecal access for cisternogram or chemotherapy administration
Intrathecal Baclofen pump studies
Assist with AGACNP/ACNP acute care procedures in cardiology or critical care settings
Maintain professional practice through continuing education and professional organization participation
Potentially precept students and facilitate learning of new team members
Travel to various outreach locations
Physical Requirements Continuous requirements to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform tasks requiring both hands and fingers. Vision 20/40 corrected, latex-safe environment, and ability to work in dusty or confined spaces as needed.
Required Training and Experience
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a PA, OR completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and current APRN licensure or eligibility
1 year of experience as a PA or APRN
Preferred Training and Experience
Preference for PA or APRN experience in Cardiology or Critical Care
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
State DHEC and DEA license applications started prior to first day (if applicable)
Degree of Supervision APP will be assigned a primary supervising/collaborating physician and will report directly to that physician.
