Special Education School Aide - Highschool

The School Aide is an individual who works with students requiring instructional, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee. The School Aide may also provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker or other health care professional.
Minimum Requirements
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Duration AS
School Year ASAP-2026 School Year
Pay Rate $20 / hr , pay weekly
Hours/schedule Regular School Year Hours: Mon - Fri (7:30 A.M-3:30 P.M)
Qualifications/Licensure HS Diploma/GED Required
Typical job duties & work environment Working 1-1 with students that have moderate Autism and related behavior issues. Also some other functions such as classroom prep, Crosswalk assistance.
Specific experience required Previous experience with Autism
Top 3 skills needed for success Timely, professional, able to verbally deescalate
Ratios (if applicable) average of 7 students in the classroom
Location of assignment Baltimore, MD 21211
Float Requirement Yes- Float to other classrooms as needed
Orientation process Orientation onsite
Dress Code & Parking School appropriate, no ripped clothes, avoid logo’s and cartoons/ unprofessional images, no shorts, no dangly jewelry
Credentialing Requirements Fingerprinting, CPS, MD486, MSDE, Seasonal Flu Shot
