We are looking to appoint to a secondment into the position of Senior Theatre Practitioner to cover Anaesthesia. The closing date is 18 January 2026. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and practice are maintained, working as a skilled member of the Theatre team in leading, providing and maintaining high standards of peri-operative care. The candidate will have a higher knowledge of team leadership and management of human and financial resources with a personable nature. The role requires innovation, the ability to prioritise workload (own and others), and excellent communication skills. A flexible approach to working and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams is expected. A broad experience and knowledge of Human Resource processes is desirable. Main duties
Lead by example and display a leadership style that empowers staff and nurtures development at all levels. Act independently and use own initiative and inspire others through action, challenging traditional practices and encouraging innovative problem solving amongst staff. Carry overall responsibility and accountability for their department or area. Promote a patient-focused approach to care in collaboration with carers and relevant healthcare professionals. Be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness. Facilitate staff to fulfil CPD requirements and to maintain a professional profile. Work with the Theatre Team, Lead Nurse / Practitioner and Practice Development Team in developing and implementing theatre clinical practice. About us

Registered Nurse Part 1 & 2 State registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council or Registered HCPC Operating Department Practitioner Demonstrates evidence of ongoing continuous professional development Post-registration recognised qualification - preferably in specialty area 1st Degree or working towards Knowledge and Experience
Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, particularly within the recovery environment and the application of this in practice Thorough understanding of equality and diversity and its application to managing self, staff and patients within own area Understanding of NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct and the requirements of it Understanding of the application of effective budgetary management Understanding of the theory and application of clinical governance Demonstrable experience of coordinating patients at a senior level in a Theatre environment with experience of managing conflicting demands Thorough understanding of management of COSHH and Health and Safety of Patients, Staff and Visitors in the hospital environment Experience of Human Resource management and application Disclosure and Barring Service Check
