We are hiring a Per Diem Occupational Therapist to join the Activities Therapy Department at a 120‑bed inpatient behavioral health facility located in Pembroke, MA.
Responsibilities
Develop, organize, and facilitate occupational, activity, and skill development groups for assigned patient populations.
Ensure groups are age appropriate and consistent with level of growth, development and functioning.
Conduct all assigned occupational and therapeutic activity groups.
Utilize the screening process to determine each patient’s general level of functioning in the areas of self‑management, work/education, and social functioning.
Document patient assessments, group notes, and narrative notes using chart and/or electronic medium.
Assist in providing a therapeutic milieu for patient programming.
Adapt group protocol to engage all participants regardless of individual functional capacity.
Identify short‑term goals and monitor progress toward identified long‑term goals on the treatment plan.
Identify interventions for each objective incorporating patient strengths.
Proactively communicate with the treatment team regarding patient progress, areas of concern, and potential risks involving patient behavior.
Maintain attendance and progress notes for periodic review.
Enhance existing programs using creative problem solving for the benefit of patient care.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
Experience: Prior OT experience in a psychiatric/behavioral health setting is strongly preferred.
Certification: CPR certification and Handle with Care competency are required upon hire.
