Southglenn Library is seeking a
Senior Language Library Specialist (Spanish)
to provide friendly,
inclusive service in both English and Spanish at one branch . You will support patrons, assist colleagues, and help Spanish‑speaking community members feel at home in the library.
About the Role Based at a single library location, you'll work closely with branch teammates and Language Librarians to meet Spanish‑speaking patrons' needs, promote programs, and maintain language resources. This role centers on patron assistance, Spanish collection care, everyday technology help, staff training, program and outreach support, and translation work to keep the library a trusted hub for learning and connection.
Key Responsibilities Patron Assistance and Collection Maintenance
Greet visitors, handle library account questions and cash transactions in English and Spanish
Offer intermediate advisory and reference help with emphasis on Spanish materials and immigrant resources
Assist with printers, computers, Wi‑Fi, digital media stations, and e‑resources; escalated complex tech needs as needed
Maintain, merchandise, and shelve Spanish and immigrant‑focused collections, create displays, and keep spaces welcoming
Answer Language Hunt calls in Spanish and relay patron feedback through proper channels
Training and Shadowing
Provide on‑the‑job training for Library Specialists, modeling effective use of Spanish resources and correct procedures
Share constructive feedback and collaborate with Learning and Development staff to improve training content
Language Programming and Outreach Support
Assist Language Librarians during in‑branch programs and outreach, and serve as backup presenter when needed
Support ELA class registration, technology distribution, and community events; may lead programs such as storytime
Learning and Collaboration
Stay current on library technology, policies, and trends; actively pursue learning opportunities
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to address patron needs and support inclusive service
Translation Team Collaboration Translate and review library documents into Spanish, edit for format consistency, and contribute to the shared glossary

Bilingual Communication : Advanced oral and written Spanish and English for clear, welcoming service
Customer Service Skills : Proven ability to assist patrons, handle cash transactions, and de‑escalate concerns
Technology Troubleshooting : Comfortable guiding patrons through common tech tasks and basic problem‑solving
Collection Care : Experience shelving, merchandising, and maintaining language‑focused materials
Training Mindset : Eagerness to empower others by modeling services and explaining tools, whether it's showing a teammate how to support Spanish‑speaking patrons or helping someone print a document or navigate an online resource
Cultural Awareness : Deep understanding of immigrant experiences and the needs of Spanish‑speaking patrons
Qualifications Required
Two years of library experience, including advisory and reference work
Advanced Spanish and English fluency

Flexible schedule with evenings, weekends, and occasional district‑wide travel
Preferred
Experience with translation or interpretation
Familiarity with Adobe software
