MRI Technologist Apprentice Responsibilities
Effectively and efficiently performs age-appropriate MRI examinations while under the guidance of a registered staff MRI technologist and in accordance with Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures. Apprentice may function independently as an MRI Technologist once all competencies are completed and apprentice is registry eligible. Requirements
Graduate of an AMA or CMA accredited program in an imaging modality. Must be a current registered technologist in good standing with ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS. Certified in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Skills for Success
Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills – able to communicate on a professional level Ability to work as part of a team and to work well with physicians, co-workers and other members of the health care team Ability to multi-task and prioritize Ability to work in a fast-paced and potentially stressful environment Ability to accept constructive criticism and performance evaluation/feedback Essential Functions
Adheres to hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment; follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in policies and procedures. Performs or assists in performing quality MRI examinations under the guidance of an ARRT registered MRI Technologist, ensuring workflow efficiency. Schedules procedures and maintains appropriate records. Coordinates with other departments as needed. Assists with room preparation and restocking of supplies. Participates in educational activities to enhance patient care and quality of services. Maintains appropriate education/credentials and remains in good standing with the apprenticeship sponsoring organization. Ensures age/developmentally appropriate care as per Age-Specific Care Guidelines. Work Environment
Continually exposed to strong magnetic field Continually exposed to noisy equipment Exposed to hazards for electrical/mechanical/power equipment Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases May be occasionally exposed to patient elements Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases May handle emergency or crisis situations May perform emergency care May be exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries Our Commitment to You
