Responsibilities:
Lead multi‑state payroll processing using Paychex Flex, including bi‑weekly payroll runs and related journal entries
Own multi‑state sales tax compliance, including customer setup, filings, payments, and reporting
Perform month‑end close and GL account reconciliations, including balancing with external systems
Generate accurate and timely invoices based on contract schedules
Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely client payments
Review and approve AP Specialist’s work and vendor payments
Collaborate on special projects and support the Financial Controller as needed
Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and reprioritize frequently
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking
Clear and professional written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
Adaptability to new tools and systems in a fast‑paced environment
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/certifications
8–10 years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in payroll
Proven experience with multi‑state payroll and sales tax compliance
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities
Comfortable with Google Suite, Slack, and other cloud‑based tools
Strongly Preferred Experience:
Sage Intacct
Paychex Flex payroll system
Bill.com, Ramp
Experience in the House of Worship industry
Physical and Cognitive Requirements: This position has the following physical requirements:
Constant
Sitting with repetitive motion related to administrative work (e.g., typing)
Ability to lift or otherwise move moderate weight (such as a box of paper).
This position has the following mental capabilities and cognitive requirements:
Understanding of complex problems and the ability to collaborate to explore alternative solutions.
Makes decisions that have an impact on the work unit’s operations and services.
Communicates a variety of information.
Working Conditions:
This position works in an office environment and requires frequent interaction with others and the public.
This position works under deadlines, with competing priorities from multiple people.
Work Location: In person, at our headquarters in Colorado.
Job Type: Full‑time
Salary: Starting at $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year depending on experience
