Position Summary The research analyst supports district reporting and improvement efforts by fulfilling data requests for internal and external stakeholders, preparing state and federal reporting data, and analyzing data to evaluate district initiatives.
Essential Functions
Monitor, interpret, and analyze data in order to improve student performance
Generate reports and extract raw data directly from district information systems (e.g., SIS, SAP) for analysis
Systematize school performance data to support school improvement efforts by completing trend analysis from summarized data
Identify and support the use of school data systems to track, interpret, and analyze school‑specific contributory information (e.g., parent, student, and staff surveys; student and staff attendance monitoring; and student discipline referrals)
Support key data collection/reporting activities (e.g., Core/MOSIS data, CRDC)
Serve as a liaison to other district central offices in the acquisition and interpretation of data for school and central administration purposes
Facilitate the timely dissemination of performance, statistical, and trend data to schools and central offices
Work closely with Academics, Technology, and Assessment (among other departments) to ensure critical data projects are prioritized and implemented at both the school and district level
Provide school‑level support for using data to revise Federal Title I Plans, School‑Wide, and District‑Wide Improvement Plans
Prepare and format reports/presentations for specific audiences
Support the development of data literacy professional learning for school administrators and teaching staff
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of and experience with navigating and extracting key variables from education data systems (SIS, testing platforms)
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including data cleaning, merging)
Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts for general audience consumption
Detail‑oriented
Experience
Professional experience analyzing large‑scale datasets (including Excel, Stata, SPSS, or SAS)
Professional experience in large‑scale assessment analysis and in using education‑related technology systems
Prior experience with student information systems (preferred)
Education
Bachelor’s degree in education, computer science, data science, or related field (required)
Master’s degree in data science, public policy/public administration, education, or related field (preferred)
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects
Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree
Working Conditions and Environment
Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
