Legal Assistant Sherman, TX 75090 | Onsite COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE • Salary: $43,680 annually • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. • Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time ROLE IMPACT The Legal Assistant supports attorneys and the area manager in preparing, filing, monitoring, and maintaining lawsuits on delinquent tax accounts to ensure timely tax collection or foreclosure of tax liens. This role is key to maintaining the accuracy and flow of legal documentation, providing administrative and phone support to taxpayers, and ensuring all case data is current and compliant within the firm’s systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Respond to and initiate incoming/outgoing calls and written correspondence with taxpayers. • Prepare, organize, and file lawsuits and legal documentation, including petitions, affidavits, and dismissals. • Conduct title and address research to confirm property ownership and correct legal descriptions. • Review and update case statuses in the Case Management System throughout litigation. • Support attorneys and area managers in court docket preparation and judgment processing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • 2+ years of administrative or paralegal experience in a legal or collections environment. • Strong knowledge of litigation processes, especially related to tax or real estate law. • Proficiency with document management and case tracking systems. • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting. CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) • Legal Case Management Software • County Tax Office and Court systems • Document imaging and e-filing platforms EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT • Office-based role with extensive computer and phone use. • Occasional standing at copier or walking short distances to courthouses or client offices. • Must maintain an organized, professional, and confidential workspace. PREFERRED SKILLS • Knowledge of real estate title documentation and tax lien litigation. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Professional communication and teamwork abilities.
