Medical Director of Antibiotic Stewardship

Responsibilities
The primary roles and responsibilities will be to serve as Medical Director of Antibiotic Stewardship, Health System Affairs. In this capacity, the Medical Director guides the development, implementation, and refinement of policies, guidelines, and initiatives to improve antimicrobial use for all locations comprising Health System Affairs; participates in the development and delivery of education for clinical providers and staff as well as for patients and families; participates as the medical content expert in prospective audit of antimicrobial orders; communicates feedback with prescribing clinicians regarding opportunities to improve antimicrobial use identified through prospective audit; works with medical service leaders to develop best practices for antimicrobial use; partners with leaders from departments including Quality, Accreditation, Pharmacy, Clinical Informatics, Clinical Education, Nursing, Infection Prevention and Control, and Microbiology to incorporate Antimicrobial Stewardship activities efficiently and effectively into hospital operations, to enhance other complementary initiatives, and to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards. The position will work closely with the Director of Infection Prevention.
Qualifications
M.D. degree, or equivalent from an approved LCME medical school and satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency program from an ACGME accredited program.
Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience.
Candidate must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and be board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
