We have partnered with our client in their search for a Risk Reporting Automation Consultant (Power BI/Power Apps). This role will automate risk and finance reporting using Microsoft Power BI and Power Apps, and strengthen the firm's Key Risk Indicator (KRI) logic. The consultant partners with Risk, Finance, and Technology to connect data from multiple systems, codify business rules, and produce reliable, self-service dashboards and apps. Success is measured by reduced manual reporting effort, accuracy and consistency of KRI calculations, on-time delivery of dashboards/apps, and clear documentation aligned to banking data-governance practices.

Responsibilities

Automate end-to-end reporting workflows across multiple systems using Microsoft Power BI and Power Apps

Design and maintain semantic models, DAX measures, calculation groups, dataflows, and scheduled/incremental refresh in Power BI Service

Build and publish user-friendly dashboards and apps; implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace governance

Translate business and risk requirements into robust KRI definitions, thresholds, and calculation logic; validate with stakeholders

Implement data quality checks, lineage, and monitoring for KRI data; investigate and remediate refresh and performance issues

Author and socialize data standards, data definitions, and calculation rules aligned with the Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) and the Basel Committee's BCBS 239 principles for Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR)

Partner with Risk, Data Governance, and Technology to prioritize a delivery backlog; plan sprints and report status and risks

Provide documentation, playbooks, and knowledge transfer to ensure sustainable ownership and support

Skills Required

Expert Power BI skills: DAX, Power Query (M), dataflows, composite models, deployment pipelines, and row-level security

Power Apps (Canvas/Model-driven) and Power Automate with Dataverse/SharePoint/SQL integrations and basic ALM in Power Platform

Advanced SQL and ELT/ETL patterns; incremental refresh, gateways, and scheduled data pipelines

KRI/KPI design in risk or finance, including thresholding, trend analysis, variance, and alerting logic

Data modeling and semantic layer design; star schemas and calculation groups

Documentation excellence; writes calculation specifications, data dictionaries, and user guides that are audit-ready

Data governance and controls literacy; familiarity with RDARR and BCBS 239; exposure to DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model)

Testing and quality assurance for BI artifacts; builds test cases, validates results to source, and monitors data quality

Dashboard UX and data storytelling; designs accessible, comprehensible visuals that drive decisions

Stakeholder engagement across Risk, Finance, and Technology; facilitates workshops, backlog grooming, and U-AT sign-off

Education & Work Experience

Relevant degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, or equivalent experience

4+ years delivering Power BI solutions and 3+ years with Power Apps/Power Automate in production environments

4+ years building metrics/KPIs/KRIs in risk or finance contexts

DCAM certification a plus; experience aligning deliverables to RDARR/BCBS 239 preferred
