The Logistics Manager position is responsible for the overall management and execution of the operational excellence for the entire store, with additional focus on supervision and management of team members in store Logistics, including Merchandising, Logistics and Receiving. It directs and coordinates activities through subordinate team leads and other employees. It is a leadership position and is expected to effectively drive the overall performance of the store and store Logistics through supervision, communication and coordination of the team members. This work aims to advance customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy’s Purpose. Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. At least three years of relevant work experience required. Demonstrated success in leading overall departments of up to 40 people to drive operational excellence and sales targets. Must meet federal and state requirements for selling and processing firearms transactions. Must meet requirements to qualify to obtain/maintain FOID card (Illinois only). Exceptional supervisory and management skills; ability to coach team members on store policies and expectations; leads by example and drives performance. Excellent customer service orientation. Effective problem solving and communication with customers and team members. Strong business acumen and understanding of profitability and targets. Ability to read, analyze and interpret business materials, regulations and procedures. Clear and persuasive communication; active listening in diverse situations. Writing skills for reports and procedures; ability to present information to groups. Sound decision-making using common sense and reasoning. Working knowledge of inventory software, order processing systems, payroll systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Key Responsibilities
Overall management responsibility for the execution and operational excellence of the store. Manage store Logistics and participate in personnel decisions including hiring, training, discipline and development. Provide direction to Logistics and Merchandising Team Leads and Merchandising/Receiving Team Members; ensure execution of weekly merchandising, marketing and receiving plans. Develop and implement strategy to achieve weekly and monthly operational goals, including staffing, training, payroll hours and scheduling. Manage workforce productivity, efficiency and process improvement projects. Ensure compliance with sales, safety and security practices and procedures in conjunction with regulations. Ensure completion of departmental zoning and adherence to standards. Supervise delegated duties from the Store Director in Playbook. Participate in floor walks with leadership and create implementation plans based on feedback. Audit firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law, including ATF Form 4473 and background checks; sign off as final approver. Complete Firearms Sales Certification training and Power Industrial Truck Certification training. Complete Academy Leadership University. Provide supervision over talent lifecycle including hiring, onboarding, development and coaching. Learn, understand and enforce company policies, procedures and safety rules. Adhere to company work hours, policies and rules applicable to management-level employees. Duties may change and Logistics Manager may perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements & Attendance
Regularly able to talk or hear; frequently able to stand, walk, sit, use hands and reach with arms. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception.
