Modern Technology Solutions, Inc., Huntsville, Alabama, United States, 35824
Overview
The Space Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Specialist will lead efforts to develop, implement, and analyze advanced modeling and simulation (M&S) solutions to support space system programs for DoD and IC missions. This role involves applying cutting-edge simulation tools and analytic methodologies to model space environments, mission scenarios, system performance, and operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in M&S tools, data-driven analysis, and system optimization specific to space systems, including satellites, payloads, orbital mechanics, and space operations. The Space M&S Specialist will collaborate with engineers, program managers, and government stakeholders to influence technical decisions and ensure mission success through comprehensive analysis and actionable insights. Contract Overview
Golden Dome is a national-level, whole-of-nation initiative in which you will play a critical role in advancing next-generation homeland defense capabilities. If you are seeking a fast-paced position focused on developing innovative software for the Space-Based Interceptor mission, this opportunity is designed for you. Responsibilities
Design and develop modeling and simulation architectures for space systems, including satellite platforms, payload integration, ground systems, and orbital mechanics. Perform mission scenario modeling to analyze system performance, operational effectiveness, and capability optimization in contested environments. Utilize advanced M&S tools (e.g., STK, MATLAB, Simulink, AFSIM) to simulate mission scenarios, predict outcomes, and assess system readiness. Conduct trade studies, sensitivity analyses, and assessments to evaluate technologies, configurations, and operational strategies. Develop and implement algorithms for mission planning, situational awareness, and system optimization within a dynamic space environment. Analyze data from simulations and experiments to inform design decisions, reduce risk, and prioritize program requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate M&S solutions into program workflows and decision-making processes. Provide technical expertise for government stakeholders during reviews, audits, and program documentation submissions. Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports, visualization tools, and presentations to communicate analytical findings to program leaders and decision-makers. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, methodologies, and space operational threats to refine and advance M&S capabilities. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field (Master\'s degree preferred). Minimum of 10 years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis for space systems, preferably supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) programs. Extensive experience utilizing M&S tools for satellite systems, payload performance, ground systems integration, and orbital mechanics. Proven ability to deliver actionable analytical insights to influence technical design decisions and operational strategies. Clearance
Active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). Technical Skills
Expertise in M&S platforms such as STK, MATLAB, Simulink, AFSIM, or equivalent tools. Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, or MATLAB) for algorithm development and custom simulation creation. Knowledge of space systems engineering, mission planning, and space domain awareness. Desired Qualifications
Master\'s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines. Certifications in modeling and simulation or relevant analytical fields (e.g., Certified Modeling and Simulation Professional). Experience conducting M&S for advanced technologies, including directed energy systems, autonomous platforms, or multi-domain operations. Familiarity with adversarial threats to space assets, including electronic warfare, cyber threats, and counterspace operations. Knowledge of machine learning, AI techniques, and predictive analytics as applied to space operations modeling.
