About The College/Unit/Department The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and the University of Georgia partnered to create a four‑year medical school campus in Athens to help alleviate a statewide shortage of physicians. The AU/UGA Medical Partnership combines the instructional and research resources of UGA with the expertise of the Medical College of Georgia. In addition to increasing the number of physicians, the partnership is expanding research collaborations to better understand and treat diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Students learn in small group environments while benefiting from being part of one of the largest medical schools in the United States.
Position Summary This Curriculum Office (CO) position supports clinical education in the Clerkship and Enrichment curriculum at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and UGA School of Medicine. The Coordinator works with the Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum to ensure that Clerkship Directors and Community Faculty Preceptors are up to date with required educational programming. Duties include planning, preparation, and implementation of programs related to Clerkship Director and Community Faculty Preceptor development, liaison with other faculty development initiatives, daily operations of the CO (student orientation, faculty educational activities, and student‑facing undergraduate medical education programming), maintenance of community faculty rosters and site agreements, distribution of instructional materials, staging of outreach events, and coordination of quality service for new initiatives involving preceptor training. The Coordinator also maintains confidentiality of preceptor evaluations and site contracts.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an educational environment
Proficiency in using Office and curriculum management software
Bachelor’s degree
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
Excellent computer skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook and related software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact in a friendly, cooperative manner with administration, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders
Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to strategize
Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and work in a fast‑paced environment
Attention to detail and flexibility with job assignments
Ability to apply technology to work processes
Flexibility and adaptation to last‑minute changes
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary point of contact for incoming requests from community faculty preceptors and clerkship directors
Maintenance and management of the community faculty preceptor portal and listserv
Initiate, track, and maintain clinical site agreements between MP/SOM and affiliated training sites; manage a centralized database of executed agreements and renewals
Maintain accurate site contract lists and site agreements
Provide quality service and support for clerkship director‑administered student training
Identify and support faculty training venues and organize necessary resources for training events
Promote community faculty preceptor outreach and communicate progress to stakeholders
Assist in resolving community faculty preceptor issues related to academics, policies, student stipends, and housing
Manage incoming and outgoing CO phone inquiries; communicate via email and videoconferencing
Schedule interoffice meetings, manage travel arrangements, and maintain filing systems
Assist with preparation of correspondence, reports, posters, and CO documents; coordinate logistics for speakers and events
Ensure operations comply with ACCME, ACGME, LCME, and CME standards
Provide support and coordination for other CO activities as required
Physical Demands Standard office environment with majority of work at a desk/computer
Position of Trust & Security Access Yes, position has security access (Public Safety, IT Security, Personnel Records, Patient Records, or access to chemicals and medications)
Background & Credit Checks Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation, including a criminal background check, confirmation of credentials, and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check. A pre‑employment drug test may be required for high‑risk positions.
