Overview The Mental Health Specialist VI performs senior-level highly complex psychological/therapeutic work. The role includes individual, group, and family therapy, behavioral intervention planning, forensic assessment, and clinical supervision.
Essential Job Functions
Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy to patients.
Develop and implement individualized behavior plans for aggression, self‑harm, intrusiveness, etc.
Conduct forensic assessments, including violence risk and competency to stand trial.
Coordinate projects to reduce workplace violence and improve patient care.
Supervise other Mental Health Specialists and provide guidance to staff.
Participate in quality assurance activities and document services.
Perform duties related to disaster response, COOP activation, and alternative shift patterns.
Qualifications
Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or eligible for Texas licensure as a Licensed Psychologist.
Master's or Doctorate in psychology, counseling, or related field.
Five years of experience in psychological/therapeutic work.
Board‑certified behavior analyst (BCBA) preferred.
Doctorate preferred.
Background check, drug screen, fingerprint check, and registry checks required.
Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures.
