Overview We are currently seeking an accredited
Structural Engineer
with strong technical skills to join our growing engineering team. This role focuses on the structural design and analysis of
industrial systems , particularly
Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs)
used for air pollution control. While prior ESP experience is not required, a willingness to learn and apply new technical knowledge is essential —
we will train you in all ESP-specific systems and components .
This is a
relocation opportunity , and we are looking for candidates willing to move for the position.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and calculations for components such as steel casings, hoppers, support structures, ductwork, platforms, and foundations related to ESP systems.
Use structural engineering software (e.g.,
RISA, STAAD.Pro ) to model and analyze structures under loads including dead, live, wind, seismic, and thermal conditions.
Create and review design drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes (AISC, ASCE, IBC, etc.).
Develop design sketches and collaborate with drafters and designers to finalize construction drawings.
Perform drawing markups and provide quality checks for both structural and mechanical design documents.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure the structural design integrates seamlessly with the overall system.
Support project teams during constructability reviews and develop rigging plans for material handling and crane lifts.
Prepare structural design reports, technical documentation, and specifications.
Occasionally travel to job sites for field inspections, troubleshooting, and reporting.
Participate in project meetings and provide input on structural issues and solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
3–5 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably within industrial or heavy equipment projects.
Proficiency in structural engineering software (RISA preferred).
Solid understanding of structural analysis, mechanics, and applicable codes and standards.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools like RISA 3D and RISA Foundation.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with 3D modeling tools (e.g., Inventor, Revit).
Previous work in industrial environments or with large steel structures is a plus.
